The most advanced technology available nowadays for any kind of manipulation process is based on ROBOTS. We have implemented one ABB 50kG pay-load robot, to create a very compact SHELL BUFFER that is now installed between the liners and the conversion press. The unit that we have realized can storage up to 60,000 shells in a very compact space and retrieve the stared ends by FIFO logic to feed the conversion press. The desing may include in the same buffer different kind of ends and either different shapes, like in this case where we have a common magazine for 401 round and rectangular 1/4 Club aluminium shells.
- REDUCED MAINTENANCE.
In the stick formation area, the shells are prepared in sticks having a lenght of 800 mm. When a stick is ready over one input lane, a signal is given to the ROBOT ARM that picks it up and get ready to feed the conversion end lanes. If the correspondent call is coming the stick is transferred on the conversion feeding lane that needs it. In case that no calls are coming from the conversion press within the expected time, then the ROBOT will depose the stick in the storage magazine. Every deposit should be retrieved, when the right moment is coming, by FIFO logic.
